There have been several things going on in the news that I haven’t taken the time to write about. You know, just some things that have made me go “GRRRRR“. I’ll get to that in a moment.
In my Praise On The Inside post, a commenter asked that I let them know how my first church choir rehearsal went. I’m happy to say it went very, very well. The choir director, who is also the pastor’s wife, had the new members introduce themselves but we had to sing our names. That was cool!
Now they say when you decide to align your will with God’s will, the devil will attack you from all directions. Given my fight against a sinus infection and a sore throat over the weekend, I can testify to the truth of that statement! While sitting in the choir stand on Sunday, I had a coughing fit triggered by a tickle in my throat…this happened during both the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. But how many of you know the devil is a liar!! It all turned out good and even though I still have a little raspiness in my voice, I will be at rehearsal again on Wednesday!!!
HAAAA…take that!! 🙂
Bill Cosby was in Atlanta last week speaking to students in the “Up the Path of Success” discussion Thursday at Benjamin E. Mays High School. His message has not changed. Many in the black community are pissed with Mr. Cosby for “airing the dirty laundry” of some in our community. I’m not angry with him for that but for showing up to speaking engagements looking like an old scruffy stray dog!! WHY must he look like the dirty old drunk uncle at the family reunion? Mr. Cosby, uhmmm….blow the dust of your dayum razor, get your slacks and shirt out of the cleaners, take off the freakin shades and lead by example when speaking to a group of young impressionable teenagers!!! I really want someone to put a muzzle on Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama’s former pastor. He’s been all over the news in the past few days just recently speaking to the Washington press corps and some black clergy. Whatever gains Obama and his campaign made since the initial “Wright” fallout and his race relations speech, Rev. Wright is sure to sandbag with his latest “press tour”. I find the timing suspect and I have to ask WHY is he doing this now? Surely he has to know this will not help Obama. If he really cared about the Obama and what he was trying to accomplish, he would S.T.F.U. until after the elections. But let’s face it…no one outside of Chicago would really give a dayum what he had to say if Obama wasn’t running for president and wasn’t a member in his church. Read the related story here.
Hell hath frozen over! It would appear as if Newt Gingrich and I are in agreement on something! OH, THE HORROR!!! It’s being reported that Newt thinks Rev Wright is deliberately trying to hurt Barack Obama. Interesting. Read the story here. It is the only point in the entire interview in which we agree, but nonetheless.
With that being said, I DO NOT think Rev. Wright is a looney tune or loose cannon nor do I think he is unpatriotic. You want to know why? Read this post at The Mo’Kelly Report. He lays it out for you better than I can. 🙂

Dale and Leilani Neumann will be charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of their 11-year old daughter, Madeline. The Neumann’s failed to seek medical attention for their daughter’s undiagnosed diabetic ketoacidosis because they felt God would heal her.
Leilani Neumann, 40, told AP previously she never expected her daughter to die. The family believes in the Bible, which says healing comes from God, but they are not crazy, religious people and have nothing against doctors, she said.
You’re NOT crazy? Oh really? The story goes on to say:
Dale Neumann, a former police officer, has said he has friends who are doctors. He started CPR “as soon as the breath of life left” his daughter’s body, he said.
Madeline, a straight-A student who was being home-schooled, was in good health until she started getting tired about two weeks before she died, her mother has said. When the situation got worse over Easter weekend, “we stayed fast in prayer then,” Leilani Neumann said. “We believed that she would recover.” Read the story here.
This is beyond sad and it pisses me off! I believe in religious freedom and all of that but it doesn’t excuse you from excersing common sense. I’ve been taught that God is a god of free will and answers prayers but you have a part to play. Faith without works is dead – the act of believing God will move on your behalf – but shouldn’t you do EVERYTHING within your power to seek any “earthly” assistance? God will use others as a vessel to get your blessing to you! In this case, God could have used the many doctors and healthcare professionals to “heal” Madeline. It’s too bad her parents were too blind to see this miracle right in front of them.
I have had a couple of relatives that belonged to some church/religion that didn’t believe in doctors and when an uncle became ill, they didn’t seek out medical help. He died. It seemed stupid to me then as a teenager and it still seems unbelievably stupid to me now as an adult.
I feel so much better now that I’ve gotten that off my chest! 🙂
I have two small childen who are diabetic. (9 and 6) I saw what they went through before diagnosis, and I am just disgusted with those people who prayed instead of going to the hospital. God is not going to do everything for us. We have to be willing to meet him half way. For these people, halfway would have been at the emergency room, where God would have done his part by guiding the hands of the skilled Doctors and Nurses. Crap like that makes my skin crawl, and make me cry.
Keep singing for His glory. I’ma have to start following this Rev. Wright stuff. I saw him on t.v. the other day giving a speech and I just turned the channel. I wasn’t aware that his exposure/speeches may be hurting Obama even further. I was thinking that after the fallout from his first faux paux that it was all good. The Neumanns are crazy as hell. I believe in the power of prayer. However, God ain’t tell you to be stupid. Sometimes he sends the answer in a non magical form. Take yo azz to the doctor. He has gifted those people with the ability to help heal. In my mind I imagined a really meek white lady when I read the part about we were holding fast in prayer. Made me think about Everybody Loves Raymond. You know, Amy’s mom from the show. I was never really upset with Bill Cosby for what he said. Ain’t nothing but the truth. Having said the same, now we need some implementable concrete solutions. Has he proposed any?
Sing, your heart lady, use your gift.
The news is so depressing, and I can’t believe that the family who read and believed in the bible could be so ignorant. That is just maddening.
Now u know u make too much since to have a sore throat.
I glad to hear it went well even given the itch in your throat. I hate when I have an itch in my throat.
As for your other items.
Leave “Mr. pudding man” alone-lol. He is old and established he don’t have to worry about how he looks anymore. He is to busy being annoy at how our people are messing up the progress some many died for in the 50s and 60s.
As for the parents who refused medical care for their daughter, I don’t know what to say. On one hand I believe parents should parent as long as no harm comes upon their child but on the other hand…I mean…these parents had the means (I hope they had insurance because you never know these days) to make their child well and all they sought was prayer? I remember this happened before to another family. I personally think people that believe this way are severely limiting ALL the available option at their disposal to treat an ailing family member. it is a tragic case nonetheless.
Thanks for your input on my blog about the Obama mess. I am suprised someone actually agreed with me. I am sort of a conspiracy theorist so I am willing to believe anything is possible. Even Newt believe with Newt partially, number one everybody now know a little of Rev Wright’s histoy in the army, so this anti-american tag they are trying to put on his must go. Just because someone says something that is opposite of the so called “patriotic” americans does not make them anti-american. In my case I can be very anti-american because I have read and seen the bull this country does to our people.
Rev. Wright, from what I listened to on the Michael Baisden radio show yesterday (Tues) has really overstayed his time in the spotlight. He is really taking the light from the issues that affect most americans (high gas prices, war in iraq, jobs, etc) with his on going tour trying to defend his remarks. I have nothing wrong with what he said but he really needs to understand there will be a time and a place to defend himself but right now this is not it.
Thanks for the links to the above mentioned stories. Enjoy your week!
At the heart of Bill Cosby’s message is dressing, walking, and talking the part. Now how can he talk about kids sagging, and show up to an event looking like a bum. SMH!
I think I have written all I can about Wright. I’m so upset. I hope the money was worth it!
It pisses me off, because they believe in doctors. If it was a die hard believer of a religion that didn’t believe in doctor interference that’s one thing, but these people have friends that are doctors, and believe in doctors, so their motive sounds suspect to me.
lol
good post
