After 2 days, 1 AT&T DSL network outage, 2 RamalamaDingDongs in Bangladesh, 1 Geechie in South Carolina, 1 manager named Brian, and 2 hours troubleshooting a problem that should have taken only 15 minutes, I finally have my Internet connection again. This incident brought to my attention just how addicted I am to being able to surf the net. Without it, I was pacing the hall like a $5 crack whore jones’in for my next fix. It wasn’t pretty. 🙂

I’m a little late with my OSF post but better late than never, right? This week’s theme was to pick a vocalist you wanted to be like and state the reason. My pick was pretty easy. This lady is known as a Diva and an international superstar. She has a decent voice and has been in the entertainment industry for 40+ years. However, this isn’t why I admire her. When I saw the following interview my level of respect for her jumped tenfold.

Diana “The Boss” Ross has a reputation of being tempermental and demanding but the interview shows her close loving relationship with her five children. Unlike many celebrities today, Ms. Ross didn’t allow a nanny to raise her children. With the help of her mom Ms. Ross remained a “hands on” mother. Somehow she managed her career without sacrificing her relationship with her children. For that I say, “KUDOS“!!

Another part of the interview. WARNING: the quality is not good.

There have been several things going on in the news that I haven’t taken the time to write about. You know, just some things that have made me go “GRRRRR“. I’ll get to that in a moment.

In my Praise On The Inside post, a commenter asked that I let them know how my first church choir rehearsal went. I’m happy to say it went very, very well. The choir director, who is also the pastor’s wife, had the new members introduce themselves but we had to sing our names. That was cool!

Now they say when you decide to align your will with God’s will, the devil will attack you from all directions. Given my fight against a sinus infection and a sore throat over the weekend, I can testify to the truth of that statement! While sitting in the choir stand on Sunday, I had a coughing fit triggered by a tickle in my throat…this happened during both the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. But how many of you know the devil is a liar!! It all turned out good and even though I still have a little raspiness in my voice, I will be at rehearsal again on Wednesday!!!

HAAAA…take that!! 🙂

I thought about him today. Actually…I think about him at least once a day. Something as obscure as a turkey burger conjures up memories of him. I’m big enough to admit that I miss him.

Thought about calling to say hello so I could hear his voice or sending a text message but that exchange will end like most of our “exchanges“: a walk down memory lane fueled by an undeniable attraction which will have me back at square one. So…I’ll pass.

M2…where-ever you are…”Hi. I miss you.”

This one is for you Doo-Doo Brown.

Under the shadow of a threat from my mother, I join church at the age of thirteen. She promised to take me by and hand and lead me to the front of the sanctuary when Reverend Bridges opened the doors of the church. In my thirteen year old mind, that was the most humiliating thing she could have done to me, therefore, I acquiesced to her threats. You see, no one was going to live in mom’s house and not belong to a church congregation. Mom was raised and lived by Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

When I left home for college I rarely attended church with Easter Sunday and Watch Night services on New Years Eve being the exceptions. I was relieved to be free of being forced to attend church when that wasn’t what I wanted to do. As a little girl, pre-adolescence, I enjoyed attending church with my paternal grandmother but that was the end result of me wanting to be with her all of the time.

This week’s theme is “songs by men with perms“. I thought you guys had me stumped with this one but I’m a resourceful lady!! We were told everyone couldn’t pick Prince because he was everyone’s first thought, of course!! Next in line…Michael Jackson. MEH…I’ll pass on him too!! 🙂

The Dreamlovers were an American doo wop group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Formed in 1956, the group took several names early in its career, recording demos as The Romancers and The Midnighters (under which name they backed Chubby Checker on a 1958 recording of “The Twist”). They recorded briefly for V-Tone Records before signing to Heritage Records, who released their 1961 single “When We Get Married“. The song reached #10 on the US Billboard Hot 100; the next year, their tune “If I Should Lose You” (on End Records) made it to #61.

The group remained active well into the 1960s. “When We Get Married” was covered by The Intruders in 1970. [Source]
