unplug21Sometimes is voluntary, sometimes not…but always needed. I have been unplugged for a while. In part due to work but mostly of my own choosing.

I will be back but I am not sure when. I suppose when I feel that I have something worth writing about and actually feel like doing it. 🙂  So, don’t kick me off your reading list just yet!

I’ve been absent for a while, I know. I have not had the time to write anything nor have I been inspired to do so. But as always there are a few things that have been on my mind.

May 2004

The Hair Odyssey. About 3 years ago I made the decision to let my hair grow out from a very short yet sassy and sophisticated cut. Until October 2008 I used the same male stylist but I had to cut him loose. The man would get high during the day and it was like a roll of the dice whether or not he styled your hair the way you asked. The final straw was when I asked him to trim the dead ends and he cut more than an inch with the sides being shorter than the back. I was not happy!

A couple of weeks ago I tried out a new stylist who cut my hair in an inverted bob. Although it was what I asked for, I wasn’t happy with it. I realized it would be more time consuming with maintenance and making my gym routine more cumbersome. Last Thursday I had my hair relaxed and a few tracks added to make the bob more dramatic. Still, I was not happy and I was worried if it looked “right”.

I was giving my hair more time and energy than I wanted. At this point in my life I don’t need the headache so Saturday morning I walked into Great Clips and asked the stylist to cut it off. Using a picture (see above) I gave her of me with the desired style, the stylist gave me what I asked for. All is good and I am very pleased.

Ungrateful Relatives. Everyone has them. I am no exception. They tend to be oblivious to common decency or courtesy and believe the world revolves around them. They generally tend to show a disregard for anyone’s feelings and a lack of respect for another’s personal property. I recently had a close encounter with such a person. The encounter left me bewildered, hurt, and with a resolve not to find myself in such a situation again. This was such a hard lesson to learn. However, it is, what it is.

I hate mainstream media (MSM)! HATE them with a passion!!They have proved to be no better than bloodsucking parasites with no regard for a person’s privacy.

Case in point: the California mother who gave birth to octuplets earlier this week. Let’s review shall we.

8babiesWhen the news initially broke, the doctors at the hospital did not release the mother’s name and only gave information regarding the historical birth. Apparently this is only the second time a woman has given birth to eight babies.

The woman, whose name has not been released by the hospital, is only the second ever to give birth to octuplets. The hospital staff would not comment on whether she had received fertility drugs, which have been linked with instances of multiple births. [ABC News]

Did that stop MSM from digging around in this woman’s life and that of her relatives? HELL NO!! To make it worse a close family associate was flapping his/her gums to media that the mother already had 6 other children.

SIX?!!! WHAT THA HELL!!! Oh, the horror! How dare she! HOW. DARE. SHE!!

Media knew little about the woman until a family acquaintance told CBS’ “The Early Show” on Thursday that the mother is “fairly young” and lives with her parents and her six children.

Within hours, media had camped out at the family’s home inWhittier, where the babies’ grandfather pulled up in a minivan in the evening and briefly spoke to The Associated Press. [FoxNews]

Ooo weee…there’s blood in the water now! MSM is circling like a school of man eating sharks. BASTARDS!!

Oh but what makes my ass itch worse than an untreated yeast infection is muthafuggas are now questioning this woman’s choice and whether or not it was ethical for doctors to have implanted the embryos.

Watch the video HERE.

Ok so she already had 6 children. Why is this anyone’s gatdayum business? WHY? Who are you muthafuggas to question someone’s right to have children or how many? Unless she is asking you directly to take care of her children then people need to back the hell up!

BACK. THE. HELL. UP!!!

Now, I don’t think this was the smartest decision a person could make given her circumstances. (According to reports she’s unwed and lives with her parents in a small home.) Howeverrrrr…I will defend her right to make that choice without judgment from a society hellbent on attempting to regulate what other people do with their lives.

I will also defend her right to privacy and offer my services to kick the ass of the person who put her business on blast to the media. MSM, notwithstanding, I loathe that little fugga worse than menstrual cramps and men with Vienna sausage sized weenies calling it a penis! I want to put my size nine foot up his/her ass side ways with a steel toe boot outfitted with spikes, laced with rubbing alcohol!

This country has turned into a bunch of bitchass, narrow-minded, frightened little hypocrites with nothing better to do than to peer into the lives of others passing judgement so they can feel better about themselves.

To this lot of people I say GO BITE A FAT ONE! Bitches.

My name is Chocl8t and I approved this message.

Speak on it….

This recession does not look like it will be coming to an end anytime soon.  Thank God I still have a job and a fixed rate mortgage but yeah, like millions of other Americans, I am concerned. It seems like companies are announcing layoffs everyday. Even so, I remain prayerful so it isn’t keeping me awake at night.

creditcard3Also, like many other concerned people, I am paying closer attention to the financial news particularly regarding the banks and credit card companies. A couple of months ago, a news program ran a story about credit card companies either decreasing limits or raising rates on customers with stellar repayment histories. (You can read a recent story HERE.) I kept an eye on my card and wouldn’t you know it, I received a notice from Chase that my low rate of %5.99 was going to more than double, thereby doubling my minimum payment.

YES!! DOUBLE!!!

I immediately got on the phone with a representative and then a supervisor who both informed me my only option to keep that rate was to close the account and continue to pay it off. The supervisor attempted to reassure me that it was nothing that I did or did not do that triggered the rate increase but rather in these tough economic times Chase was making an attempt to continue to meet their bottom line, even if that means screwing their customers who played by the game.

BEWARE.

creditcard1If you have a credit card, pay on time, never go over the limit…the CC company can do this to you. It is spelled out in that agreement you sign when you initially open the account. In short what is says is that for whatever arbitrary reason the bank deems necessary they can increase your rate whenever regardless of circumstance.

We are being penalized for matters that are out of our control and there is nothing we can do. Well, there is one thing and that is to pay off your credit and pay cash for everything. I did this for years and now I return to that practice.

Now if you’re over 30 there is a good chance you are aware of how this credit dance works. You know consumers have to find the right balance of installment and revolving credit, debt to income ratio, and repayment history to get and maintain a good credit score. Closing accounts could potentially count against you.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t.

fortyfourToday at noon, the 44th President of the United States, Barack H. Obama, will be sworn into office. His right hand on the historical Lincoln Bible and his feet on the steps of United States Capitol which was built, in large part, by slaves.

To say this is a very historical moment in U.S. history is an understatement. This is a moment I thought I would never see in my lifetime.

Changing laws to outlaw racial discrimination was easy and paled in comparison to changing the hearts and minds of the people who actively sought to keep blacks and minorities oppressed. Even so, as a child I was told that I could be and do anything if I set my mind to it and worked hard to achieve it. However, growing up I realized those were lofty words of encouragement built on hope but steeped in doubt.

But, today, this day, January 20, 2009, I can look at my nephews and tell them with confidence and conviction they live in a world where they can grow up to be President of the United States if they work hard.

I will be able to give them proof of that today.
